EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Savannah Screenplay Awards (SSA) fills a crucial gap in Georgia’s creative landscape — establishing Savannah’s first professional competition dedicated to screenwriting excellence.
While cities like Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, and Austin already host major script contests, Savannah’s writers have lacked a comparable pathway for exposure and advancement. SSA seeks to change that by creating a platform where great scripts are discovered, celebrated, and connected to real industry opportunities.
In partnership with the Savannah Regional Film Commission and local industry leaders, SSA will deliver an awards program that honors craft while producing tangible career outcomes — including mentorships, local media coverage, and introductions to producers and development professionals.
Our long-term goal is to make the Savannah Screenplay Awards an annual cultural institution, a catalyst for creative growth, and a key pillar in Savannah’s evolution into a thriving center for cinematic storytelling.
